Can you volunteer? Pretty please?
Even if you are riding that weekend, there are LOTS of ways to help out!

NDA is really proud of our reputation for having the BEST volunteers ever. But none of it can happen without YOU! We're really hoping that every single NDA member will consider volunteering to help keep this show alive.

If you are competing for year-end awards, you can earn your required volunteer hours here, all in one weekend! And even if you don't need the hours, this show is the perfect place to learn more about how these big shows work. Come work behind the scenes and learn invaluable skills and experise for the horse world.

Even if you're riding, you can help! Here's a list of positions we need filled. If you email your day/time/job preferences NOW to our volunteer coordinators, we won't finalize the schedule until after ride times come out. So don't worry about conflicts with your ride times!
I want to volunteer

Become a sponsor of the Cornhusker Classic
It's only with your help that this amazing show is possible.

The 39th Annual Cornhusker Classic is Nebraska's only USDF/USEF-recognized dressage show, and it is built on the support of an exceptional community of dressage enthusiasts in Nebraska. This show is a group effort, and holds a special place in the hearts of everyone who makes it possible.

NDA is asking you to please consider supporting the show by becoming a class sponsor.

For just $25 per class (or $60 for 3!) the name of your business, yourself, or your family member will be printed in the Classic show program and announced over the speakers during the show.

Not only is it a way to give back to our community, help make The Cornhusker Classic possible, and get a little advertising—sponsorships also count toward the annual requirement of donation money/volunteer hours for NDA year-end awards.
Deadline to become a class sponsor is May 20, so contact Gracia Huenefeld today!

We need volunteers at Omaha's International Horse Show!
Help us man the NDA booth and earn your volunteer hours.

The International Omaha Horse Show (May 5-7, 2016) is a world-class jumping and dressage competition taking place in Omaha at the Century Link Center. This is an amazing opportunity to see athletes and horses from all over the world compete in Grand Prix stadium jumping and Grand Prix dressage. This year's show is a precursor to the 2017 World Cup, and will have two CDI 4* events—Grand Prix Dressage and Grand Prix Freestyle.

Just like last year, NDA will have a booth all set up and ready to help educate visitors about dressage, as well as spread the word about our club. We'll need people in 2-, 3- or 4-hour shifts on Friday, May 6, 2016 and Saturday, May 7, 2016 from 9:00am - 6:30pm at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha.

It's really easy:
  • 2 people in the booth at all times
  • Be a friendly face for visitors!
  • Answer questions about NDA and dressage in general
  • Accept membership registrations
  • Sell a couple hats or coloring books

We're also looking for people to help us set up the booth on Thu (5/5) and tear down the booth on Sat night (5/7) after the evening entertainment. (If you'll be at the show that night as a spectator, it would be really convenient if you could just stop by the booth and help us disassemble on your way out! Many hands make light work and it should be super quick.)

You will have to pay for parking, but you can enjoy the shopping/shows before or after your help in the booth. There will be Grand Prix dressage at 6:00 pm Thursday night (well after booth setup, and it's FREE), and Grand Prix Freestyles at 4:00 pm Friday. The International is always a ton of fun with super high caliber horses and riders to watch, and we'd LOVE your help!

It's a really fun time, a great venue, and an awesome opportunity to see world-class riders. If you can help us volunteer, or have any questions, please email Melissa Ward or reach her by phone at (402) 350-3673 ASAP.

Online registration for the Open Fair Schooling Show is now LIVE! The Lancaster Event Center has fixed and tested their online registration system, which is now up and running! You can now register online for this NDA-recognized schooling show, which will be taking place July 25–26 at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln, NE.

As a result of the technical difficulties, the registration deadline has been EXTENDED to July 18!

Bonus!
4-Hers can show on Sunday without paying for a day stall (since they can use their assigned 4-H County Fair stalls), but will need to sign up for per-night dressage stalls if bringing a horse Friday or Saturday. Stalls are only $25/night and include a bag of shavings.

If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Rawlinson!

We need volunteers for The Cornhusker Classic

Calling all Horse Enthusiasts
Calling all Show Scene Extraordinaires
Calling all Eager and Happy to Lend a Hand!

Whichever of the above you may be, your consideration of lending your time and services at the 38th annual Cornhusker Classic is both requested and terrifically appreciated!

The show is fast upon us—specifically the dates of Friday, May 29th – Sunday, May 31st at the Lancaster Event Center in Lincoln. And just as the 37 previous shows found success namely due to the gracious and generous efforts of volunteers, so is to be the case with this show.

As the volunteer coordinator for this year's show I am writing to you to inquire about your willingness to assist us at this year’s great event?

If the answer to that question for you is a no-brainer, resounding yes, then bless you! Grand! And yay!

If you need to do some licking and chewing on the matter first, here are a few points of consideration:

10 Great Reasons to Volunteer at the 38th Annual Cornhusker Classic:
  1. Because you can earn your NDA Volunteer Hours
(These are needed to be able to qualify for year end awards — aka super cool ribbons and trophies)
(If you are not riding for year end awards, than your volunteer hours may be donated to an NDA member of your choice. How cool is that?!)
  2. Because it is a fabulous way to familiarize yourself with the ins and outs of the show scene, whether this is to be one of your first exposures to a show or just your first exposure to a rated, level III (USDF/USEF sanctioned) show.
  3. Because we CAN NOT do it without you! The show must go on and you can have the satisfaction of knowing you were an integral and important part in making that happen!
  4. Because if you volunteer 8 or more hours over the course of the show you will receive a nifty VOLUNTEER t-shirt — for keeps! (that is the word on the street at this point anyway!)
  5. Because there will be horses there!
  6. Because there will be lots of horses there!
  7. Because there will be lots of horses of lots of different breeds there!
  8. Because there will be horse friends there, some old and some new you get to meet!
  9. Because your horse called and said they could use a day off!
  10. And lastly, because what else were you going to do with a free weekend anyway — non-horsey things? Nah!

Myself and the amazing crew of people that have already poured so much into this show, thank you in advance, for your consideration and all the more so for your willingness to help!

Next Steps:

  1. View volunteer position descriptions here.
  2. View needed volunteer day and time slots here. (Note: Various positions may be accessed along bottom tabs. Times listed are approximate until all show entries are in. Exact times to be shared as soon as ride times are confirmed.)
  3. Contact Emily at [email protected] as soon as possible (please!) to indicate which position you are interested in as well as day and time availability. I will then get you entered on the spreadsheet accordingly.

There is pretty much nothing left to say other than this . . .

THANK YOU!

BREAKING NEWS - The International's Dressage CDI* is changing...

3/31/2015

Originally, The International Omaha Horse Show was planning to include a dressage CDI* (showcasing Prix St. Georges and Intermediare tests) alongside its Grand Prix jumping competition on Apr 8-11, 2015.

However, since there were not enough entries to support the CDI* this year, the organizers have decided to host a Third Level and higher combined competition/clinic instead. This will give regional riders a great experience with FEI judges, and sponsors and spectators can see some great riding. Plus, there is prize money just for participating!

Check out the official announcement from The International for full details.

Are you interested in riding at Third Level or above at this event? It's a great opportunity to ride in an arena setting for FEI judges! While you can pay for a stall for $225, if you compete all three days, you'll receive $200 back in prize money just for completing your tests.

The event is limited to 10 horse/rider combinations, so if you want to ride, contact the show organizers  ASAP!
